This portrait comes from a time in my life when I was recovering from an all-consuming, toxic relationship. After spending almost two years being gaslit by a profoundly below average man, I realized I had completely lost myself and my sensibility. This piece is to commemorate my rebirth. It is a visual promise to myself: I will never let go of my personhood for anyone ever again.

Hand Embroidery with cotton threads and acrylic yarns. Hand embellished with glass beads. Hand appliquéd with heirloom fabric. Made on Muslin.
